Noosa’s Beaches

2 mins read

Noosa has some of Australia’s most sparkling turquoise waters that change from beach to beach. Due to their varying accessibility, you may find the beach to either be buzzing with activity or more like a private affair. Whichever beach you choose, you’ll find it teeming with marine life, picturesque in its colours, and the perfect place to dip for a swim.

Centrally located, Noosa Main Beach tops as a favourite, with gentle waves and moderate swell. It’s a Noosa staple, and its patrolled beaches make it popular for families and tourists to swim, surf, and bask in the sun before heading back to any of the shops and restaurants for an afternoon muse.

From there, access Noosa National Park where you can follow a coastal track that leads you to incredible beaches like Little Cove, Tea Tree Bay, and Granite Bay. As part of the World Class Surf Reserve, these beaches double as incredible surf sanctuaries if you have the energy to carry your board to them. Even further still, Alexandria Bay is a fairly isolated beach towards the south end of Noosa National Park that offers a little slice of seclusion.

At the mouth of the river sits Noosa Spit, an off-leash dog beach that’s ideal for boats, picnics, as well as kayaking and SUP paddle boarding. Beaches like Castaways and Marcus Beach are smaller, more local for surfers, swimmers, and kite surfers. Towards Peregian and Coolum Beach, an even more relaxed vibe sets the tone for artisan shops that decorate the streets before grassy knolls lead to white sand beaches.

In the north is Noosa North Shore, where you’ll take a ferry to cross the Noosa River with a 4WD vehicle. Its exclusivity makes it a pristine location to see soaring coloured sand cliffs and long stretches of beach. Spend a day or more here to camp and explore the region.

Directly in and around Noosa, you can find bustling beaches or sheer seclusion, depending on your wants and needs. With beaches as diverse as they are, simply pack your sunscreen for tropical weather, sunshine, and sparkling seas.
