The best cycling in and around Noosa

Noosa’s choice of terrain will leave you ready to dust off your tyres and enjoy the many cycling tracks around town. From mountain biking trails to triathlons, riding is a popular sport throughout Noosa thanks to the incredible choice of routes to explore. As nature emerges from the breezy seaside, leading into the lush hinterland; on a sunny day, Noosa offers all the components for an incredible ride.

Surrounding Noosa, there are several bike shops to hire road bikes, mountain bikes, electric bikes and fat-tyred bikes. So you won’t need to worry if you didn’t bring your bike along on your holiday. For local insight and to get to know your bearings, take one of the many guided cycling tours to learn about the region, or apply for one of the annual cycling events.

Here are some of the best rides through Noosa for you to explore:

Noosa to Gyndier Drive

This 30-kilometre ride will take you across the region’s incredible landscape amongst the quiet roads and leafy country. Ride out of Noosa and along the river, as the trail follows the Noosa-Cooroy Road on to Gyndier Drive. With a three-kilometre climb, this ride is a great way to train and a popular ride taking you past Pomona and Cooroy.

Noosa Trail Network

Traverse through nature along the Noosa Trail Network made up of 100 kilometres of villages, lookouts and countryside perfect for mountain biking. Along the ride, there is a choice of cafes, pubs and breweries to stop for a break. The trail goes through some of Noosa’s most scenic nature and rugged countryside.

David Low Way

This 55-kilometre return route is nothing but a coastal dream. Taking you from Sunshine Beach all the way to Twin Waters. The ocean views and scenery make it a highly sought after track thanks to the incredible landscape along the journey.

Mount Tinbeerwah Mountain Biking Track

To get amongst nature, take the mountain bike trail from Tewantin National Park. Showcase 360-degree views of both the hinterland and the coastline; this beautiful trail will bring you through sub-tropical rainforest too. Choose between different track levels depending on the ride you are after and explore the mountainous surroundings.

The Noosa Region

Go for an adventure ride around the Noosa region; being a mostly flat and smooth place to ride around. Explore the Noosa River, or take one of the many bike paths. Follow the cycling lane along Gympie Terrace, as it connects all the way through from Noosa Heads and beyond.

Mary Valley

Mary Valley is a natural oasis home to crystal clear lakes, lush rainforest and incredible mountain climbs. Take your mountain bike and explore the Noosa Hinterland, or join in on a bike tour available. Mary Valley sits further out from Noosa but is a beautiful escape to experience the quiet paradise within the native surroundings.
