Queenslanders are genuinely spoilt with sunshine and what feels like, endless days filled with blue skies and balmy evenings. But what about the odd day or two when the weather is a little dreary and wet? Well, Noosa provides an array of rainy day adventures for travellers to enjoy, so here are some of our favourite.
Visit Sea Life
Noosa’s perfect placement on the coastline is likely to spark your curiosity to learn more about the incredible underwater life. Follow your search and witness marine creatures up close at Sea Life Sunshine Coast Aquarium. Based in Maroochydore, a 40-minute drive from Noosa Heads will lead you there. Spend the day learning about seals, getting up close with tropical fish or walking through the ocean tunnel to watch sharks calmly swim over you.
Shopping on Hastings Street
Take a stroll along Hastings Street and explore the incredible boutiques on offer; with a choice of clothing, homeware, bookstores and toys to wander through. For an indoor shopping mall experience, visit Noosa Junction, Noosa Civic or Sunshine Plaza too.
Dine your way through town
What is a holiday without unleashing your inner foodie? Noosa’s incredible dining options will have you devouring your way through town. Local produce and kid-friendly restaurants will make dining out a memorable and comfortable experience. Start on Hastings Street and continue your way along the Noosa River, with an array of cuisines including Italian, Japanese and contemporary Australian fare to try.
Take a walk through Noosa Regional Gallery
Hop on the ferry or drive to Tewantin and explore the Noosa Regional Gallery. The gallery showcases local and international work as well as programs for the community to learn about local artists. With rotating exhibitions, entertaining all members of the family will be easy. Entry to the gallery is free, and its incredible location is set just off the Noosa River, providing an opportunity to explore the surrounding area.
Enjoy a rainy day cruise
Jump on a boat and explore the rich fauna and flora surrounding the Noosa River System. Even on a rainy day, the Noosa Everglades are still beautiful and tropical, with active wildlife and lush surroundings. At sunset, there is a choice of cruises available, as well as throughout the day too.
Take a day trip to Australia Zoo
Encounter native Australian wildlife at Australia Zoo. A visit to the zoo will be a memorable experience, bringing you up close with kangaroos, koalas and other incredible reptiles and animals. Australia Zoo is located in Beerwah and is just less than an hour drive south from Noosa Heads. Plan your day around the organised shows to learn about crocodiles and other animals, and learn about wildlife conservation from the experts.
